My Experience as a Student During Distant Learning

As a part of the 2020 graduating class, I can without a doubt say I’m having the most historic senior year yet. When I first found out my spring break was extended because of COVID-19, I along with most students was ecstatic. It wasn’t soon after that I learned we were transferring to online school. Now that, I was not so beaming about. I would have to come up with new ways to connect and finish out my senior year through something I had never done before.

Over the next week I began to enjoy distant learning more. My teachers submit my assignments every Monday, giving me until the following Monday to submit them back. Lucky for me, my classes this year aren’t too demanding. These include English IV, Economics and World Geography. Teachers are available one hour a day to answer any questions students may have.

This flexibility allows me to create my own schedule, giving me time to do the things I enjoy, like spending time with family and working more. Although I do miss seeing my friends face to face, I still communicate with them on a day-to-day basis using social media, which I have never been so thankful for. I don’t know about you, but I’m exhilarated I have my family around during this time.

As Roy T. Bennet said, “Your hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of your life. Keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end.” During these tough times it may be hard to keep your head high, but keep in mind the positive things we as world are discovering every day to continue learning. With all, I couldn’t be more thankful for my family and technology’s resources, because without them we would all be lost.
